The assets discovered during a search of the home of former State Airports Authority (DHMI) Department Head Mehmet Cemil Acar, following his detention on charges of bribery and corruption, have caused a widespread stir in public opinion. According to information obtained from police sources, 26 kilograms of gold, approximately 1.5 million dollars in cash, and numerous assets in various foreign currencies were found in Acar's home.

It was learned that the detained Acar declared during his prosecutor's interrogation that his monthly income was around 3 million TL. Furthermore, it was stated that Acar possesses real estate investments worth millions of liras and substantial bank accounts.

While Acar denied the accusations leveled against him, he described his detention as a "political conspiracy aimed at undermining the government." Defining himself as a "favored bureaucrat," Acar claimed that he had not engaged in any illegal transactions during his time in public office.

On the other hand, the gap between the salary and the assets has drawn public attention. According to data from Eleman.net, the highest salary received by a department head in 2025 was recorded as 67,500 TL, while the average salary was 46,400 TL.
