Efforts continue for citizens stranded on cable car. 24 cabins had been stranded

In a statement made by AFAD, it was noted: "At approximately 17:28 today, information was received that a cable car cabin located in the Tünektepe area of our Antalya province was left hanging in the air.

In the incident, 1 of our citizens lost their life and 7 of our citizens were injured. Rescue efforts are continuing without interruption, and 49 people in 8 hanging cabins have been successfully evacuated.

A total of 366 search and rescue personnel, 6 helicopters, 1 military cargo plane, 76 vehicles, and 6 ambulances from AFAD, the gendarmerie, police, coast guard, Ministry of National Defense, UMKE, NGOs, and fire departments have been assigned to the region."

Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun stated regarding the cable car accident in Antalya, "Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is closely monitoring all developments regarding this tragic incident and is receiving instant information about the matter from the relevant ministries and our Governorship."

Our Ministry of Interior is conducting intensive work for the evacuation of our 184 citizens who remained stranded after the accident. Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is closely monitoring all developments regarding this tragic incident and is receiving instant information about the matter from the relevant ministries and our Governorship. Necessary investigations will be initiated regarding the incident, and the accident will be investigated in all its aspects."

Stating that citizens should not give credence to posts containing disinformation that may be spread on social media regarding this tragic incident, Altun expressed that it is of great importance to follow developments through official channels.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, in his statement regarding the cable car accident in Antalya, said, "Our priority is to reach our citizens as soon as possible. A judicial investigation has been initiated by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident that saddened us all."

Minister Tunç, in a post on his social media account, said, "I wish God's mercy upon our citizen who lost their life in the incident that occurred as a result of a cable car pylon breaking and one of the moving cabins falling on the Sarısu-Tünektepe cable car line operating in the Konyaaltı district of Antalya, and I wish a speedy recovery to our injured citizens.

A judicial investigation has been initiated by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident that saddened us all."

Minister Tunç announced that a 5-person expert committee consisting of engineers and occupational health and safety experts has been assigned to determine the cause of the incident and those responsible, and that the team is continuing its examinations at the scene. Minister Tunç stated that the judicial investigation is being carried out in all its aspects under the coordination of 1 Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor and 1 Public Prosecutor.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that Civil Inspectors have been assigned regarding the cable car accident in Antalya.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, in a post on his social media account, said, "Unfortunately, 1 of our citizens lost their life and 7 people were injured as a result of one of the pylons carrying the cable car line toppling in Antalya's Konyaaltı today.

Civil Inspectors have been assigned regarding the incident. The public will be informed about the developments."

MSB ASSIGNED A MILITARY PLANE FOR RESCUE EFFORTS

The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) assigned a C-130 type plane belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces to support the rescue efforts for citizens stranded in the cable car accident in the Konyaaltı district of Antalya.

In the statement made by the MSB, it was noted, "A C-130 type plane belonging to our Turkish Armed Forces has been assigned to transport the teams that will participate in the rescue efforts for the citizens stranded after the cable car accident in Antalya and the necessary materials from Erzurum to Antalya."

ANKARA FIRE DEPARTMENT SET OUT TO PARTICIPATE IN RESCUE EFFORTS

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality reported that the Ankara Fire Department has set out to participate in the rescue efforts for citizens stranded in the cable car accident in Antalya.

In the post made on the Metropolitan Municipality's social media account, it was noted, "Our Ankara Fire Department has set out with 13 search and rescue personnel and 4 equipped vehicles to participate in the rescue efforts for our citizens stranded in the cable car accident that occurred in Antalya."
