WHAT HAPPENED?
On January 1, during a march organized by the National Will Platform under the leadership of the Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) on the Galata Bridge in Istanbul, university student Ege Akersoy, who punched İsmail Aydemir, who was carrying a green flag inscribed with the 'Kalima Tawhid', was detained following the incident and arrested on charges of "publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility" and "intentional injury," and was sent to Marmara Prison in Silivri.
On January 17, a decision was made to release Akersoy under judicial control conditions.
