According to a new decision taken by the General Directorate of Security (EGM), the authority of honorary inspectors to issue parking tickets has been revoked as of today. Sami Güleçyüz, Chairman of the Board of the Honorary Traffic Inspectors Association, evaluated the decision taken by the EGM.

Güleçyüz stated the following:

"Within the framework of the duties assigned to honorary traffic inspectors, tickets can be issued for certain articles under the Highway Traffic Law. Some of these are penalties aimed at ensuring the flow of traffic and maintaining traffic order. Others are penalties aimed at preventing accidents. Parking and stopping penalties have been suspended for now. From now on, the focus will primarily be on penalties aimed at preventing other accidents. Honorary traffic inspectors are against the suspension of this authority. The fact that this issue has been suspended for now does not mean that inspections will not be carried out. This parking issue will continue to be monitored more strictly by law enforcement and our traffic police through electronic surveillance."
