In his post, İmamoğlu stated the following:

"I hear with great sadness that a group of ignorant people, whom I cannot call police, are mistreating our brilliant young children who have been taken into custody. I cannot call them police because my honorable police force would not inflict this cruelty upon the nation's young children."

"PROCEDURES ARE BEING CARRIED OUT WITH DILIGENCE AND SENSITIVITY"

The General Directorate of Security (EGM) stated the following in its statement regarding the matter:

"The Turkish Police Service carries out its duties against illegal actions with great devotion, patience, and common sense. Likewise, procedures regarding individuals taken into custody during demonstrations and protests are being carried out with diligence and sensitivity within the framework of legal regulations.

Some social media accounts are intentionally sharing posts claiming that those in custody are being subjected to 'mistreatment.' This is a despicable lie. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those who make and spread this slander against our police."
