The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has issued a directive for the closure of daycares opened by municipalities and to prevent them from opening new ones.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has broken his silence regarding the MEB's daycare directive.

'MAY GOD GIVE THEM WISDOM'

İmamoğlu stated, "They made promises about daycares. Because what did I say? I said, 'Our daycares and our city restaurants have defeated your Kanal Istanbul.' Why didn't you open daycares then? This is a mental block, not knowing what to do. May God give them wisdom."

İmamoğlu added, "This nation will say 'go away' at the ballot box. There is no politics in such a matter. Why are you closing daycares that 20 thousand mothers benefit from?"

'I AM WAITING IF YOU HAVE THE COURAGE'

İmamoğlu continued as follows:

"The state should not look at religion or politics; the state should love everyone. Your letter means nothing to me. Come on, go ahead and close them. I am waiting if you have the courage. I need children who ask me everything and question things, my friend. Not those who do not question. If we have a thousand employees today, there will be 3 thousand tomorrow. Take this letter of yours and throw it in the trash."
