Ekrem İmamoğlu issues call with a note 'I am addressing my friends': 'Sign the slanders if necessary'

Imprisoned CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has made a new post from the 'Presidential Candidate Office' account.

IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is imprisoned in Silivri, stated in his post: "I am addressing my friends here:

Protect your honor, your dignity, your families, and your children. If necessary, sign those slanderous documents placed before you, knowing they are fabricated.

The future of none of your children is less valuable than my freedom. I will bear the burden of those signatures alone," he said.

In his post, İmamoğlu addressed the situation as follows:

In this dirty conspiracy carried out by the prosecutor's office; business people, my bureaucrats, and my companions are being forced into slander through pressure, threats, and blackmail. Pure people who have never stepped foot in a courthouse in their lives are being subjected to the most systematic and shameful judicial harassment in our history.

 For the sake of the ambition, hatred, and political interests of a handful of judicial members, innocent people are suffering. The state's hand of justice is being turned into a tool for blackmail:

“We will ruin you. We will arrest your family. We will keep you away from your children for years. Come, slander, and be saved!”

These sentences echo in those dark rooms. They stand in SEGBİS records, camera footage, and testimonies. Do not think that no one knows these, that these will be hidden!

 I said it clearly on January 15, 2025, and I repeat it on this occasion:

“Be honorable, confirm my sentence; but leave my innocent friends alone!”

 You are not honorable!

You are threatening my companions and the people we have greeted with their most valuable sacred assets, their families. You are resorting to methods that even the mafia would not use!

 I am addressing my friends here:

Protect your honor, your dignity, your families, and your children.

If necessary, sign those slanderous documents placed before you, knowing they are fabricated. The future of none of your children is less valuable than my freedom.

I will bear the burden of those signatures alone.

We set out on this path to shoulder and carry the fate of the nation. What is our own fate? These shoulders are ready to carry the fate of everyone silenced for the sake of a child's tears. Do not worry at all. But let no one forget that I will not bow down to this dirty order!

This darkness will surely end. We will reach the light again. When that day comes, not only justice but honor, dignity, and integrity will prevail.
