Ekrem İmamoğlu’s message: 'The conspiracies will be exposed! Those who commit crimes in this process will sooner or later...'

Imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu stated in a message released through his lawyers: “This court will eventually be established. The conspiracies will be exposed. The nation will see the truth. Those who commit crimes in this process will, sooner or later, be held accountable before fair courts.”

CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been imprisoned in Silivri Prison since March 23, has issued a new statement. 

In a statement released through his lawyers on the X account titled 'Presidential Candidate Office', İmamoğlu said: "The law applied to us has long ceased to be law. As prosecutors fail to find crimes, they fabricate them using unimaginable methods. No justice can come from this system."

Continuing his statement, İmamoğlu emphasized that courts would eventually be established, saying: "The conspiracies will be exposed. The nation will see the truth. Those who commit crimes in this process will, sooner or later, be held accountable before fair courts."

The full text of İmamoğlu’s statement is as follows:

“The functioning of justice in our country is in a serious crisis. The law applied to us has long ceased to be law. While dawn raids are conducted on the homes of our lawyers, those who pressure detainees to become slanderers and those caught while fleeing are sent home. Those who both produce slanderers and chase after millions of dollars are showing off at the courthouse with their bodyguards. They threaten those who refuse to be slanderers by implicating them in other crimes. Even the deaf sultan has heard this by now, with the exception of the HSK (Council of Judges and Prosecutors) and the Ministry of Justice.

Lawyers who met with my brother Fatih Keleş in prison in the middle of the night and said, “Become a slanderer, or they will implicate you in an assassination plot, and you will face much heavier charges,” continue their work freely. Not a single person has come forward to these conspiratorial lawyers to ask, “Why did you say this, who are you in contact with?” Moreover, the scenario is unfolding exactly as they said it would.

As prosecutors fail to find crimes, they fabricate them using unimaginable methods. No justice can come from this system.

I want to underline this again. We are not objecting to being tried; our objection is to the officials who act outside the law and take instructions from politicians.

Our objection is to the pressures exerted on those who are unjustly and unlawfully deprived of their freedom under the guise of an investigation.

Our objection is to those who forget the nation and try to design politics by using the law as a tool. You have done every evil that could be done. You have tried every path that could be tried by acting outside the law.

But this court will eventually be established. The conspiracies will be exposed. The nation will see the truth. Those who commit crimes in this process will, sooner or later, be held accountable before fair courts.

For everyone, everywhere, justice first, freedom first!”
