CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu, writing from the prison where he is being held, shared a handwritten message sent to him by the party's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is also under arrest.

In his message to Aslanoğlu, İmamoğlu wrote: "My dear President Şenol Aslanoğlu, our great struggle for justice continues. Our solidarity will go on. We will get through these difficult days together. I embrace you with longing."

Aslanoğlu responded to Ekrem İmamoğlu's message via his social media account, sharing it with the following words:

My most esteemed presidential candidate, my dear fellow traveller Ekrem Başkanım, I received the greeting you conveyed from the dungeons of Silivri to the dungeons of Buca. When we visited you in Silivri together with my deputy provincial chairs, my Women's Branch Provincial Chair and her board, you looked at us with eyes that smiled from within and said: "Do not lose hope, these days will pass, we will get out of here, we will be vindicated both in consciences and in courts, and I will come to İzmir again — the city of the first bullet and the last struggle." Now I say it to you, başkanım: these days will pass, and we will be vindicated both in consciences and in courts.

Until that day — until all our fellow travellers are reunited with their freedom and their families — we will continue our struggle from inside, while our fellow travellers who keep amplifying our voice will, on the outside, continue our march to power under the leadership of our General Chair, Sayın Özgür Özel; I still believe this wholeheartedly. There is no despair, başkanım — as you said, there is struggle, there is resistance, there is the preservation of faith in Turkey's bright tomorrows. As you remind us at every opportunity: everything will be wonderful, everything will be wonderful! Hope is here, başkanım, hope is here: hope lies in you and in us — democracy lovers who defend women's right to life, who give voice to those who cannot make ends meet, who stand against the killing of our voiceless street animals, who defend the olive tree over rent-seeking, who will not allow the future of young people to be stolen. Stay well until we meet again.
