Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel announced that they are working on Presidential Campaign Offices with the party's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently detained in Silivri Prison.
CHP officials have disclosed who will make up the team that will manage İmamoğlu's election campaign. According to a report by Cumhuriyet, it was stated that a team consisting of the party's Shadow Cabinet and individuals from outside the cabinet will be formed to run İmamoğlu's election campaign, and that the work is currently in the maturation phase.
SHADOW CABINET TO MOVE TO ELECTION OFFICES
It was learned that the process is currently being discussed between Özel and İmamoğlu, and will subsequently be evaluated by the party's Central Executive Board (MYK). Stating that the party's Shadow Cabinet will be dissolved in the coming period and that the MYK will take on an administrative structure, CHP officials said, “The Shadow Cabinet structure will be moved to the election offices. Some of our colleagues in the MYK will take on roles there. Apart from this, there will be names from our members of parliament, academics, and intellectuals taking part in the election office. The Shadow Cabinets will also have working teams of experts in their fields. In other words, we will form our executive cadres. We will form the cadres that will solve the country's problems.”
‘WE WILL CONTINUE TO POINT OUT THE CONTRADICTIONS’
Stating that no evaluation has been made regarding the offices yet, the officials shared the possibility that “They might become operational by the end of the month.”
Furthermore, noting that the CHP is currently focusing on the rallies it holds in a different province every week, party members stated, “We will be in Izmir on Monday. We will continue the rallies afterwards. The rallies we hold in a different district of Istanbul every Wednesday will also continue for all districts.” Speaking about the process following the terrorist organization PKK's statement on laying down arms, the officials said, “Our chairman has made his call for the process to be brought to Parliament. We also have preparations regarding steps toward democratization. From this point on, it is up to the sincerity of the government. In this sense, we are revealing the contradictions they are in. We will continue to bring our criticisms to the agenda based on these contradictions. Because the party that wants a sincere solution in this matter is the CHP.”
