Ekrem İmamoğlu's 'March 31' post: He made a '1 person' reference

Making a post from Silivri, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor İmamoğlu shared a message referencing the March 31, 2024 local elections.

In a post on his social media account, İmamoğlu stated, "One year ago today, 16 million Istanbulites won once again with a margin of 1 million votes," listed the operations carried out over the past year, and declared, "It is clearly a coup."

Ekrem İmamoğlu said, "One year ago today, 16 million Istanbulites won once again with a margin of 1 million votes. '1 person,' who only respects the nation's choice when it suits them, has attacked the national will repeatedly over the past year."

İmamoğlu listed the operations, saying, "5 of our district mayors are imprisoned, trustees have been appointed to 2 of our district municipalities, many of our colleagues are imprisoned, and as the IMM Mayor, I am imprisoned," and added:

'1 person' did all of this through unjust and unlawful operations.

These actions are clearly a crime and a disregard for the nation's will. It is a coup against the national will. This "Istanbul Lawlessness" is clearly a coup.

Everyone who buries their head in the sand by saying "the judiciary is independent" has also become a partner in this crime while knowing the facts.

I am now someone who has set out for the rights, law, and prosperity of our 86 million citizens.

With our nation's belief in democracy and justice, and with their love and passion, we will uproot this corrupt structure from these lands. We will stop the handful of people who have become enemies of the national will with the power of that same national will.

In a not-so-distant future, Turkey will be a fair, prosperous, and predictable country. On the anniversary of March 31, I am giving you the good news of very beautiful days ahead.
