Elçin Sangu's critique of the distorted media order and message on İmamoğlu: 'The media is paving the way for this'

Actress Elçin Sangu, who was involved in a legal dispute with journalist Birsen Altuntaş until recently, had also reacted to the word 'mafia-like' used by Altuntaş in a news report about her.

While the court issued a decision of non-prosecution, a striking message came from actress Elçin Sangu. Criticizing the journalism practiced in the country, Sangu also made striking remarks about Ekrem İmamoğlu without mentioning him by name.

I am writing these lines to everyone who defines themselves as sensible but unknowingly feeds this distorted media order.

Do you not want 'a free press, impartial news, and a fairer country' in other environments?

Then, was this supposed to be the reporting, journalism, and media of the country we dream of?

Today, gossip has replaced news.

Lynching has replaced journalism, and constructed perceptions have replaced the truth.

Words are no longer used to illuminate the truth, but to make the darkness appear more convincing.

As you read those news stories and click on those ugly headlines, you are actually becoming a part of this decay without realizing it.

The problem is not one person; the problem is this mentality.

This is a mentality that slowly numbs the public with manipulation, silences conscience, and turns the truth into tabloid fodder.

It disregards human dignity for the sake of getting a few more clicks and being a little more visible.

And that is exactly why the same patterns repeat as if mocking our intelligence.

Facts are distorted, and lies are normalized.

Can a person be someone who has committed election fraud, has a fake diploma, is a thief, and is a spy all at the same time?

It is possible, because the media is paving the way for this.

In politics, in art, on the screen; the same mentality circulates everywhere:

Harming others for personal gain.

They told me many times, 'Shut up, it will hurt your career.'

Yes, perhaps it will.

But if we cannot root out this mentality, that career, those screens, and those headlines have no meaning.

Do not get used to these. Do not normalize them. Do not be a part of them.
