Emotional farewell to her father from Ferdi Zeyrek's daughter Nehir: 'We must be able to hold those responsible accountable'

Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek has passed away after suffering an electric shock while checking a malfunction in his home's pool and undergoing treatment in intensive care for some time.

Zeyrek was laid to rest in the presence of tens of thousands of Manisa residents.

Ferdi Zeyrek's daughter, Nehir Zeyrek, addressed her father, Ferdi Zeyrek, in a post on her social media account.

Nehir Zeyrek said, "We are trying to overcome the shock of this sudden death and heal the wounds within us. We will recover... We must recover so that we can hold those responsible accountable."

In the post, which included photos of her father with his family, Nehir Zeyrek wrote the following:

"Do you know what kind of person my father was?

He was honest... Very honest. Even though he was involved in politics, he never lied.

He was hardworking... He would go to work at eight in the morning and return at two in the morning.

Sometimes my mother and I would get angry:

'We never see you,' we would say.

And he would always give the same answer:

'Be patient for one more month, I will set everything right.'

But those 'one months' never ended...

He loved Manisa very much.

Every elder, every child, every animal... He embraced everything.

He was full of life. He loved going to the sea, playing sports, and learning new languages.

But above all, he was a very good father.

He would feel embarrassed when he couldn't spend time with us.

Going to concerts together, discovering new cities,

Sometimes he just wanted to hug us while sleepy before going to work in the morning.

He always told me:

'If you have a father, there is no problem.'

But I no longer have a father.

Now I am in my room.

With the memories that remain, I am with my siblings and my mother.

We are trying to overcome the shock of this sudden death and heal the wounds within us.
