Emphasis on weddings in Friday sermon: 'Weddings without hijab do not exist in our religion'

The Presidency of Religious Affairs stated in its Friday sermon dated June 13 that weddings should be conducted in accordance with religious sensitivities.

'WEDDINGS WITHOUT HIJAB DO NOT EXIST IN OUR RELIGION'

The Diyanet stated that clothing that does not comply with the hijab at weddings is contrary to Islam, while also expressing that extravagant hall expenses and celebrations involving alcohol are not in line with the religion.

The sermon included the following statements: 'Our religion permits men and women to enjoy themselves within legitimate boundaries during wedding ceremonies, provided that privacy is observed among themselves. However, an understanding of entertainment where privacy is not observed, the hijab is disregarded, alcohol is consumed, armed celebrations that turn joy into sorrow are held, and the environment is disturbed by loud music does not exist in our religion.'

"BRIDAL BATHS AND BACHELORETTE PARTIES SHOULD NOT BE HELD"

Furthermore, the Diyanet sermon stated that events such as 'bridal baths,' 'bachelorette parties,' and 'gender reveal parties' should not be held, and that circumcision weddings should not be a means of ostentation. It was warned that such events could damage religious sensitivities.
