Energy cooperation between Turkey and Somalia deepens
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar met with his Somali counterpart to emphasize the strategic partnership between the two countries. Bayraktar announced that drilling activities off the coast of Somalia are proceeding as planned and that cooperation will be strengthened through new investment areas.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar held a critical meeting with Somali Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Dahir Shire Mohamed on the sidelines of the Istanbul Natural Resources Summit. During the meeting, Turkey's energy presence in the Horn of Africa and future joint projects were discussed.
Making a statement on his social media account following the meeting, Minister Bayraktar pointed out that energy diplomacy between Turkey and Somalia is progressing with concrete steps.
NEW INVESTMENT AND JOINT WORKING AREAS ARE BEING IDENTIFIED
Minister Bayraktar made the following remarks regarding the activities in the region: "We are advancing the historic drilling process we are conducting off the coast of Somalia with the 'Çağrı Bey' vessel step by step. In this context, we consulted with our counterparts on the current operational course and the implementation topics for the upcoming period. We attach importance to further deepening the Turkey-Somalia cooperation, which finds concrete results in the field in the energy sector, with new investment and joint working topics, including mining."
