Engine failure on passenger plane bound for Istanbul

A Turkish Airlines plane traveling from Kathmandu to Istanbul requested an emergency landing in Kolkata, India, due to a fire in its engine.

A passenger plane belonging to Turkish Airlines, which took off from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, encountered an unexpected technical malfunction while flying to Istanbul. When a fire broke out in one of the plane's engines during the flight, the crew implemented emergency procedures.

In a statement made by the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation, it was noted that the plane's crew brought the fire in the engine under control in a short time. Thanks to the quick intervention of the crew, the fire was prevented from spreading and the safety of the passengers was ensured.

In order to prevent a possible danger, the captain requested permission to land at Kolkata International Airport. With the airport authorities making the necessary preparations, the plane landed without any issues.

While the passengers and crew on board did not experience any health problems following the incident, it was announced that the plane has been taken in for technical maintenance.
