Erdoğan announces new date for economic recovery: 'God willing, by the end of the year...'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress held in İzmir. Erdoğan stated that steps to increase the welfare level of citizens would be taken as the economic program reaches its targets. The President did not provide a clear date for when these steps would be taken. Criticizing the CHP, Erdoğan also stated that İzmir has not received sufficient services.

Having previously made statements regarding when the economy would recover, Erdoğan reiterated that their goal is to increase the welfare of citizens through the economic program by the end of the year.

President Erdoğan announced that the concrete results of the fight against inflation would be seen more clearly towards the end of the year.

In his speech, Erdoğan explained that significant steps have been taken in the fight against inflation and that the results of these efforts would become more apparent towards the end of the year. The President stated, 'God willing, the concrete results of our fight against inflation will be seen better towards the end of this year.'

Touching upon the current state of İzmir in his speech, the President claimed that the city is in a neglected and miserable state, and noted the following:

''Almost all of İzmir's neighborhoods and its sea are in a miserable state. Administrations incapable of performing their duties try to hide their failures with concepts like Atatürkism and modernity.''

The President also alleged that the legacy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk has been 'plundered.' Erdoğan spoke as follows:

''The founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal, said, 'My greatest work is the Republic.' However, today, some do not refrain from plundering this legacy.''

WILL THE ECONOMY RECOVER?

Touching upon economic issues, the President emphasized that the difficulties experienced in recent years have particularly affected fixed and low-income citizens, but that this is a temporary situation. Stating that 'macroeconomic data is trending positively,' Erdoğan mentioned that Turkey has goals to strengthen its regional and global position.

Stating, 'We will continue to build the Century of Turkey,' the President noted that he is hopeful about the country's future.

In his speech at the congress, Erdoğan also addressed the state of the economy and added the following:

''No good will come to Turkey from those who prefer to play a role in the insidious and despicable games of imperialists rather than serving their country. Yet, in our faith, hopelessness is seen as almost equivalent to disbelief. Moreover, we have many reasons to be hopeful. Even though the economic difficulties experienced in recent years are troubling our fixed and low-income citizens in particular, rest assured that this is a temporary period. God willing, the concrete results of our fight against inflation will be seen better towards the end of this year. Our macroeconomic data is already trending quite positively. As our economic program reaches our targets, we will increase the frequency of steps that will further raise the welfare level of everyone, starting with our fixed and low-income citizens. By consolidating our country's regional and global power position, we will continue to build the Century of Turkey.''

CRITICISMS OF THE CHP

Directing criticisms at the main opposition party, the President claimed that the CHP has 'no benefit' to İzmir. Erdoğan did not address the allegations that İzmir does not receive enough support from the central government.

The President expressed the following regarding the CHP:

''While the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal, was saying, 'My greatest work is the Republic,' they did not contribute a single bit to the development and progress of the Republic. On the contrary, if you will pardon me, they entered into an effort to legitimize the order of robbery in municipalities under the name of 'City Consensus' together with those who call themselves 'Mustafa Kemal's dogs.' They have not tired of plundering Gazi Mustafa Kemal's legacy for years, sometimes to win elections, sometimes to fill their pockets. And they shamelessly, brazenly, and without modesty, try to equate our efforts for a terror-free Turkey with their own complicity in crime. They have turned the opposition from a responsibility to produce alternative visions and programs into a tool to carry water to the mill of whoever is an enemy of Turkey and the Turkish nation. Their former Chairman became a deputy for this city. Their new Chairman supposedly sees himself as an İzmirite.''
