Erdoğan at his party's group meeting: 'The longing for a civilian constitution must end'

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at his party's group meeting. At the very beginning of his speech, Erdoğan stated that there would be changes in the staff. Additionally, Erdoğan focused his speech primarily on the Palestine-Israel war.

Highlights from Erdoğan's speech are as follows:

"We are holding our consultation meetings next week. We will put our tired friends to rest and continue our path by refreshing our staff.

As of yesterday, one year has passed since the general election held on May 14, 2023. The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) has worked day and night during this year and passed laws that will meet the expectations of our nation. In the same process, our government, myself and all our cabinet members included, have worked day and night, sweating for the prosperity, development, and security of our country. Since our last group meeting alone, we have attended many programs both domestically and abroad. We have hosted different leaders in our country. We have left behind a particularly intense four weeks in the field of foreign policy.

"THE LONGING FOR A CIVILIAN CONSTITUTION MUST END"

We need to pass legal regulations regarding exorbitant prices before the TBMM goes on recess. We need to strengthen the legal basis in the fight against violence directed at our teachers. The longing for a civilian constitution must end. This issue should not be used for daily politics; we will maintain a constructive attitude until the end. We see benefit in finishing the consultative contacts and taking concrete steps without rushing, but also without delaying too much.

We have another uninterrupted 4 years ahead of us. We will spend every day to the fullest with the passion of the first day. There is no place in our political tradition for putting distance between us and the people, building walls, or weakening the bond with the street, the bazaar, the market, and the neighborhood.

The March 31 elections gave us a warning. There has been no fracture in the voter's trust. On May 14 and May 28, they entrusted the government to the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı).

"WE WILL HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE ON LEGAL GROUNDS"

We are following every aspect of the entire incident that has come to the agenda recently. We do not allow bureaucratic tutelage. We will definitely hold anyone who goes outside the law or has a grievance accountable on legal grounds. There can be no excuse for not fulfilling one's duty to the country and the nation.

Last week, we hosted Özgür Özel at the AKP Headquarters and held a full meeting. As I said, we are entering a period of softening in politics. We saw Turkey as one. We embraced all 85 million without any discrimination. May the next 4 years pass not with tension, but with mutual tolerance. Our desire is for Turkey's issues to be handled above politics.

We see that those who undermine the spirit of Yenikapı to pay their debt to FETÖ are never idle. We are aware of what those whose entire capital in politics is to divide people based on origin, sect, or belief are trying to achieve. "SOONER OR LATER GAZA"
