Erdoğan echoes Özgür Özel's December call: 'One of the effective methods'

AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan made statements following the cabinet meeting and called on citizens to boycott in order to lower exorbitant prices. This call by Erdoğan brings to mind the call Özgür Özel recently made to citizens regarding the minimum wage.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements regarding the minimum wage during a live broadcast he attended in the final days of December and announced that they would issue a 'boycott call'.

Özel stated, "We will protest those who do not give the worker their due; we will not eat what they produce. We will say, 'Do not consume, do not buy, do not buy their shoes, do not use their tires'."

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had said, 'We will announce one by one those who condemn the laborer to a starvation wage; just as those who put horse meat into food are announced, we will expose those who take advantage of Erdoğan's actions to crush the laborer, and we will use our power that comes from consumption'.

EXORBITANT PRICE BOYCOTT

This time, AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan made the boycott call, which CHP Chairman Özel had made over the minimum wage, regarding the exorbitant price increases that cannot be prevented.

Emphasizing the exorbitant price increases in markets following the minimum wage hike and the long-term impact of the economic measures taken, Erdoğan found the solution in calling for a boycott, just like CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan spoke as follows:

Within the framework of free market principles, we will protect the rights, laws, and interests of all 85 million people at the highest level. A free market does not mean lawlessness. A free market is never synonymous with disorder.

The purpose of our inspections is not to interfere with the free market, but to ensure that the system operates on a healthy foundation. It is important for the success of the process that our citizens support the fight against the cost of living.

The way to do this is to boycott those who apply exorbitant prices. One of the effective methods to bring those who sell expensive products to their knees is a boycott.

Our greatest trump card against those who engage in opportunism is to use the freedom not to purchase. We encounter numerous examples of this across a wide spectrum in the world. In this regard, by working hand in hand, the state and the nation can achieve much more effective results.

We have truly made significant progress in the fight against inflation in the last 1.5 years. As inflation falls, the purchasing power of our workers, civil servants, retirees, farmers, and tradespeople will also increase. Our goal in 2025 is to largely resolve this issue.
