'Erdoğan is trying to write a new story by putting the PKK card on the table'

Halk TV columnist Mehmet Tezkan stated in his column today that President Erdoğan is in pursuit of a new political narrative, expressing that the government is trying to divert attention at a time when the economic crisis is deepening, inflation cannot be brought under control, and social decay is accelerating.

Stating that Erdoğan has put the "PKK card" back on the table by highlighting the threat of terrorism, Tezkan said this move is an attempt to cover up economic problems and the regression in areas such as justice and human rights.

PUTIN CONSTITUTION

Tezkan expressed that President Erdoğan is seeking to establish a system similar to the "Putin Constitution" to turn the current situation in his favor and maintain his power. Emphasizing that Erdoğan's strategy is built on a "story" similar to the method applied by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Tezkan used the expressions, "An opposition approved by the Palace, media loyal to the Palace, and a silenced civil society… Erdoğan wants to do the same."

Tezkan stated that the government might even plan to invite PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to Parliament in order to strengthen the domestic front. Expressing that these moves aim to guarantee Erdoğan's power in the long term, the author concluded his article by saying, "Erdoğan wants to be like Putin to protect his seat. That is why he is trying to cover up social problems by uniting attention over the terror threat."
