Following the call for dissolution and laying down arms made by terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan on February 27, within the new resolution process architected by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey' by the government, the terrorist organization PKK recently convened its so-called congress.

While public questions remain regarding how the terrorist organization will lay down its arms, it has been learned that the AKP will head to the field in the coming days to secure social support for the new resolution process.

According to a report by the Türkiye newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, public opinion polls conducted by the AKP showed that support for the negotiations regarding the new resolution process remained below 50 percent in the early days. It is claimed that following the implicit statements made by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the process, and most recently the meeting held with the DEM Party Imralı Delegation, support for the new resolution process has reached 60 percent.

In this direction, AKP executives, members of parliament, and organization leaders will meet with families of martyrs and veterans in particular to provide information about the process. Within AKP circles, it is assessed that social support for the process will increase further after the terrorist organization PKK lays down its arms.

ERDOĞAN'S WARNING ON SENSITIVITIES

It is stated that President Erdoğan frequently emphasized the need to take societal sensitivities into account regarding the new process during meetings with his staff. It was learned that Erdoğan requested that the families of martyrs and veterans not be offended, that the process be conveyed accurately in every aspect, and that it be emphasized that there is no question of granting amnesty to terrorist leader Öcalan.
