Erdoğan presented the State Medal to Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Speaking at the ceremony, AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan said, "Since my brother Mirziyoyev was elected president in 2016, Uzbekistan has become a source of peace and stability in its region.
Mr. President, with the 'New Uzbekistan' third Renaissance projects, which we also wholeheartedly support, and the economic reforms implemented, you have ensured the development of Uzbekistan. We are pleased to see that my brother Shavkat has once again elevated Uzbekistan, a great state with its history, great culture, and great people," he said.
Expressing that as Turkey, as their Turkish brothers, they take pride in the successes Uzbekistan has achieved in every field, President Erdoğan stated, "This year, we are marking the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Uzbekistan. We will hopefully carry our relations, which we have elevated to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, even further. My dear brother, with your exceptional leadership that paved the way for our relations to reach today's excellent level, you have demonstrated a sincere will to strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between us.
You have shown that you are a friend in times of need to Turkey and the Turkish nation in every incident we have faced in recent years, especially the February 6 earthquakes. For all these reasons, I am very pleased to present to you our state medal, the highest honor of the Republic of Turkey," he said.
Stating his belief that Mirziyoyev will view and carry the state medal as a powerful symbol of the unshakable brotherhood between the countries, President Erdoğan added, "I pray that the Lord may make our brotherhood and affection eternal. I offer my best wishes for the happiness and prosperity of your excellency and the brotherly Uzbek people."
