Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Rector Naci Bostancı made a statement regarding the protests against Linet, who was forced to cancel her concert.

Bostancı, who also served as an AKP Group Deputy Chairman for a period, stated: "You may or may not like the singer Linet, but the concert of Linet cannot be the address for the reaction to be shown against Israeli oppression. Such actions that exceed their purpose do not benefit the Palestinians, they cause harm. A concert blockade, which has its source only and solely in tribalism, can never be accepted..."

Bostancı's remarks drew a harsh reaction from Oktay Saral, Chief Advisor to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Arguing that Bostancı should be forced to resign and that an investigation should be launched, Saral stated the following:

"What's going on, Naci Bostancı! You won't make a peep about the atrocities committed in Gaza and many countries around the world, you will remain silent, but you will screech as if a Zionist singer is supposedly a victim! What is Linet to you! These words can never be innocent. He must be forced to resign and an investigation must be launched."
