President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s Chief Advisor Oktay Saral targeted rap artists with statements he made on his social media account. Saral claimed that some rappers are harming the moral values of society with the content they produce.
HARSH WORDS FOR RAP ARTISTS
Drawing attention to certain content presented under the name of "rapper" in his post, Saral alleged that these works target the moral structure of society under the guise of art. Saral stated that the content in question negatively affects the mental world of young people.
“THE MENTAL WORLD OF THE YOUTH IS BEING POLLUTED”
Saral included the following statements in his announcement:
“Recently, the content presented by certain individuals under the name of rappers has reached a point that damages the moral structure of society and pollutes the mental world of the youth under the guise of art. This approach, which targets the moral structure of society, pollutes the mental world of the youth, and markets degeneracy under the mask of so-called art, clearly conflicts with the values of our nation.”
Continuing his assessments on the X social media platform, Oktay Saral used the following words in his post:
“Those who try to legitimize all kinds of vulgarity for the sake of popularity should know that; these lands are not the home of those who profit from rootlessness and lack of values, but of those who protect their culture, faith, and morality. This rotten mentality, displayed under the name of art, has turned into a propaganda tool that poisons our youth. Standing against those who forget their social responsibility in the drunkenness of fame and try to normalize all kinds of perversion is a debt of conscience for this nation. No one has the right to dynamite the spiritual foundations of society for the sake of money and applause.”
HE HAD PREVIOUSLY TARGETED THE MANIFEST GROUP AS WELL
Presidential Chief Advisor Oktay Saral had previously targeted the dance and music group Manifest, which consists of 6 young women. Sharing a censored photo of the group, Saral had stated, "Legal action must be taken against these immoral, indecent, shameless, demon-looking creatures called the Manifest group so that they can never engage in this exhibitionism again."
