Erdoğan's 'stone and cannonball' warning to the opposition: 'We know very well'

The meeting, chaired by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex, lasted approximately 4 hours. Erdoğan is making statements regarding the decisions taken at the meeting.

Here are the highlights:

-I would like to draw attention to one point. We have left 7 years behind in the Presidential government system, which was implemented with the June 24, 2018 elections. From pandemics to wars, from earthquakes to floods, the system has faced many tests. We see the strategic value of our new government system much more clearly. With its fast, effective decision-making and implementation mechanism, and its structure closed to the intervention of tutelage centers, it facilitates the calm management of threats and challenges encountered. There will be no deviation or turning back from this. Together with ourselves and our alliance, the Presidential government system has also refreshed its confidence. The old system debates, which the opposition frequently resorts to in order to divert the agenda, are painful memories left behind.

-No one will ever be able to drag Turkey back to its old days of instability. We care about the development of this historic gain in our management system for the sake of Turkey's future. We evaluate all kinds of opinions that aim to improve the new system and develop its problem-solving capacity, rather than undermining it. I thank our nation, which made the system change possible with the strong support they gave at the ballot box.

-No matter what troubles are around us, we have only one agenda, and that is to properly pay our debt of gratitude to the nation. The debates in which the opposition is wallowing only increase the responsibility of our government. We intend to maintain the faith of our different citizens in the system as well.

-We have no tolerance for any action that will open a rift in Turkey's internal front. While saving Turkey from a half-century-old scourge, we cannot allow a new problem to arise. The health and safety of our democracy is more important than the seat struggle of a political party. Those who cannot solve their own internal issues cannot produce solutions to the country's problems. Political institutions also need to act with Turkey as the center.

-We are generally happy with the distance covered in a short time in the efforts for a Turkey without terrorism. The events that have occurred in our region recently, which will become more critical in the coming period, have confirmed how strategic this step is. We know that there are those who want to disrupt this process as well. It is understood that they are pursuing various acts of sabotage. Our state has the experience not to fall into these traps.

-We know very well how to throw a cannonball at those who throw stones at our window, and we have the power and will to do so. No matter what the opposition does, we do not break away from our primary agenda. Even the summary of our programs in the last 2 weeks is a summary of what we mean.

-By the end of 2025, we will deliver 453 thousand residences and workplaces. We held the opening of our Azerbaijan Neighborhood with my brother Ilham. I would like to thank the Azerbaijani people once again, who have rushed to our country's aid since the first day of the earthquake.

-We organized a successful meeting at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers. On June 23, we came together with Memur-Sen members as part of the 30th-year loyalty meeting. We attended the NATO Leaders' Summit held on June 24-25. We decided to increase our expenditures to 5 percent of GDP by 2035. We met with many leaders, including Trump, and discussed bilateral relations and the situation on the agenda. We drew attention to the ongoing oppression in Gaza. The next address was determined as our country. We will host the 2026 NATO Leaders' Summit in Turkey. We will host the country leaders in our capital, Ankara.

-We have accelerated our urban transformation efforts. We delivered the keys to 798 thousand independent units to our brothers and sisters in Güngören. We laid the foundations for the 1st and 2nd stages of Tozkoparan, which includes 1032 independent units, 1077 of which are residences and 55 are workplaces. We will deliver a total of 1930 independent units to our rightful brothers and sisters. On June 27, I was at the opening ceremony of the global transport forum, where representatives from 70 countries of the world met. We introduced the investments we have made and the projects we have implemented to our guests.

10 PEOPLE ARRESTED REGARDING FIRES

-Since June 1, 1516 fires have broken out, 1507 of which have been brought under control. 31 people identified as responsible for the fires were detained, 10 were arrested, and 11 were released under judicial control. We are still fighting 9 fires. Efforts to bring the fires under control are continuing. The fires in some regions have been partially brought under control. I convey my best wishes to all my citizens affected by the fires.

-Almost all of the fires are human-induced; even the smallest negligence can be a cause. I invite all our citizens to perform their maximum duty in protecting our green homeland for the next 2 months.

-Only 70 percent of our population was under the umbrella of health insurance; we have brought our entire population under this umbrella. In 2024, 504 million prescriptions were covered. The cost is 305 billion liras. While there were only 3 thousand 953 drugs under reimbursement in the 2000s, today this number has risen to 8 thousand 522, and the domestic production rate of drugs is over 80 percent.

-We are including 5 different smart cancer drugs used in the treatment of 25 different types of cancer in the SGK reimbursement scope. Our patients were procuring these cancer drugs with their own means and then filing lawsuits. We are taking a very meaningful step for our 48 thousand cancer patients and their families.

-At our cabinet meeting, we also evaluated our artificial intelligence studies. We aim to increase the current level of 250 megawatts of central investments to 1 Gigawatt by 2030. We will grow the initiatives in this field with the artificial intelligence fund. We will try to minimize the dangers brought by artificial intelligence. We will continue to work with all our might for future generations.
