Erdoğan signs: Former METU rector appointed to Turkish-Japanese University
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, rectors have been appointed to 14 universities. The most notable among these appointments is the former rector of METU, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Verşan Kök. Kök, who was criticized for his practices at METU and was removed from his post this summer, has been appointed as the Rector of the Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University by the President's decision.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has made appointments for 14 new rectors via presidential decree.
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Verşan Kök, who served as rector at METU for years and was removed from his post by decree this summer, has been appointed as the Rector of the Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University.
President Erdoğan had removed Prof. Dr. Mustafa Verşan Kök from his post with a decree dated August 16, appointing Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Ahmet Yozgatlıgil in his place.

Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli to the Rectorship of Hasan Kalyoncu University,
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Duruel to the Rectorship of Iskenderun Technical University,
Prof. Dr. Nihat Şındak to the Rectorship of Siirt University,

With the same decree, Dr. Yener Mehmet Sonuşen was removed from his position as a member of the Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University Council, while Prof. Dr. Lütfiye Durak Ata, Prof. Dr. İsmail Yüksek, and Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner were appointed as council members.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huriye Reyhan Demircioğlu was also appointed as a member of the Council of Higher Education.
