President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Highlights from the statements of AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan:

-Our mutual contacts demonstrate the exceptional position that the friendship and brotherhood relations between our countries have reached.

-This year, we are marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations with Indonesia; of course, our cultural ties date back 400 years.

-We evaluated the steps that can be taken to increase our trade volume to the 10 billion dollar target in a balanced manner.

-We agreed on making new breakthroughs in our cooperation in many areas.

-We evaluated new cooperation opportunities in the defense industry.

-We aim to further strengthen the ties between our peoples and our cooperation in the fields of culture and education.

-We view each of the 5 thousand Indonesian brothers and sisters who have received education in our country as cultural ambassadors.

-We appreciate Indonesia's stance regarding the Palestinian issue. We will continue to work with Indonesia in defending the Palestinian cause.

Subianto's statements:

-For the first time in my life, I spoke in a parliament outside of Indonesia; I was very excited, but I was able to finish my speech. I thank the Turkish politicians; they listened to me.

-I truly admire Turkey, and I am learning a lot from here. The continuation of the Ottoman Empire is an inspiration for us and for the Indonesian people. Our cooperation makes us very happy; we will contribute to world peace by working together in the coming days.
