Erdoğan made remarks at the 9th National Will Iftar.

Reacting to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, President Erdoğan said, "They have started to complain about Turkey to foreigners. The CHP Chairman is demanding political mandate-seeking."

Highlights from the remarks of AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan are as follows:

"Whenever Turkey has shown the courage to take steps that break the mold, someone has pressed the button. We saw this with right-left provocations, the incitement of university youth, the treacherous attacks of the vile terrorist organization, the Republic rallies, and the street terror in Gezi. They have tried every path, and they are still trying. We cannot see the boycott calls threatening domestic and national brands as separate from this. They did everything to cover up corruption.

Remember, they said, 'The Republic is under threat,' 'Secularism is slipping away,' and 'Our lifestyle is being interfered with.' They tried to reach their goals by voicing immoral and unfair slanders. I say this with regret, but they were also successful. We sacrificed our brilliant youth to this treacherous cycle.

We cannot evaluate what happened after the Istanbul-based terror and corruption investigations separately from this context.

Every kind of disgrace was displayed. Under the pretext of seeking rights, they engaged in a very dangerous provocation that has nothing to do with democracy, law, or legitimate ways of seeking rights. However, thanks to the cool-headed and determined stance of our police, the common-sense attitude of our nation, and our dignified youth remaining calm despite being subjected to bullying, they could not reach their goals.

When they could not do any of these, they started to complain about Turkey to foreigners. The CHP Chairman is demanding political mandate-seeking."
