Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi stated that the issue was brought to the agenda at the AKP MYK meeting following the public outrage caused by the brutal murder of two women by Semih Çelik in Fatih.
TO BE ADDED TO THE JUDICIAL PACKAGE
Stating that Erdoğan said "We must break the perception of impunity" in his opening speech at the MYK, Selvi reported the following:
"A study is being conducted by the Ministry of Justice upon the instructions of President Erdoğan. If it is ready in time, it will be added to the 9th package that has passed the Justice Commission in Parliament. If not, it will be evaluated in the 10th package. However, if the government and the opposition cooperate, it is impossible for this not to be ready. If the opposition will not support this, when will they support it?
GOOD CONDUCT REDUCTION
Those tried for violence against women and children, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse will not be released at the first hearing.
Good conduct reduction will be re-evaluated. A person has committed murder, done all kinds of filth, and at the first hearing, they wear a suit and tie, and here comes the good conduct reduction.
Probation for those who commit manslaughter will be reorganized. It turned out that no timely measures were taken even though Serdar Sertçelik, the secret witness in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan case, violated his probation. The man who was supposed to be on probation fled abroad. Again, the probation decision given for Yunus Emre Geçti, who martyred our police officer Şeyda Yılmaz, was never implemented. If he had been put in prison for violating his probation, our martyred police officer would be alive.
A provision is being introduced for one-fourth of the prison sentence to be spent in prison in a way that will eliminate the perception of impunity.
Some of these measures will be announced by President Erdoğan at today's group meeting."
