Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yıldız, who is in the Iraqi capital Baghdad for official talks, stated that Erdoğan will visit Iraq before the end of April and said the following:
"According to the planning and preparations, the visit (by President Erdoğan) will take place before the end of April. I was here during the President's last visit in 2012 when he was Prime Minister. In the meantime, there have been meetings in Ankara with (Iraqi) Prime Ministers that were not in the nature of a full state visit. The time has now come for this visit (by President Erdoğan), and God willing, it will happen before April ends."
SECURITY CORRIDOR
President Erdoğan had previously stated in a statement, "God willing, we will permanently resolve the issue regarding our Iraqi borders this summer. We will establish a security corridor 30-40 kilometers deep along the Iraq-Syria border."
