Fahrettin Altun, who served as the Presidential Communications Director for 7 years, was removed from this position by a decision published in the Official Gazette on July 10, 2025, and was appointed as the head of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey. This change was interpreted in ruling circles as Altun being purged.
Altun's son, Mustafa Bilge Altun, was married last night at a ceremony held at the Beykoz Mecidiye Pavilion. However, the fact that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan did not attend the wedding drew attention.

The wedding was attended by Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş, President of the Presidential Defense Industry Agency Haluk Görgün, Chief Advisor to the President for Foreign Policy and Security Ambassador Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Chairman of the TBMM National Defense Commission and AKP Kayseri Deputy Hulusi Akar, Chairman of the TBMM Interior Affairs Commission and AKP Istanbul Deputy Süleyman Soylu, AKP Central Decision and Administrative Board (MKYK) Member Mahir Ünal, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Istanbul Police Chief Selami Yıldız, Anadolu Agency (AA) Chairman and General Manager Serdar Karagöz, AKP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir, former Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati, former European Union (EU) Minister and Ambassador Egemen Bağış, former Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan, as well as some deputies, mayors, and numerous other guests.
TEVFİK GÖKSU OFFICIATED THE WEDDING
At the ceremony, where President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş offered a prayer, Esenler Mayor Tevfik Göksu officiated the couple's wedding. Protocol members served as witnesses to the marriage. While presenting the marriage certificate to the couple, Hulusi Akar emphasized the importance of the family institution.
Following the wedding ceremony, Mustafa Bilge Altun and his wife Rumeysa Reis accepted congratulations together with their families.
