Erdoğan's assessment of the boycott: 'Shopping malls were busier on April 2'

President Erdoğan answered questions from members of the press after performing Friday prayers in Istanbul. Making assessments regarding the economic boycott implemented by a wide segment of the public along with the opposition on April 2, Erdoğan stated, "Shopping malls experienced a much busier process on April 2." 

Although he said this, Erdoğan, who could not provide any official data, brought to mind the images of empty shopping malls recorded by citizens on April 2. It could not be determined which shopping malls Erdoğan was referring to. 

Erdoğan said the following regarding the boycott: 

“They declared April 2 as the date. But as you saw on April 2, shopping malls were not as they claimed. On the contrary, they experienced a much busier process. This means my nation does not forgive those who carry out campaigns against this country. On the contrary, they shop even more."

'THERE IS MUCH WE WILL DO WITH BAHÇELİ'

Speaking about MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's call regarding the PKK, Erdoğan said, "Currently, the process regarding a terror-free Turkey is continuing as planned. The developments are in favor of our country and our region. Do not let the steps taken by the CHP regarding terror mislead you. We have all experienced what the consequences were later. We saw these in Gezi as well. In the latest developments, the steps taken by the CHP regarding terror did not work, and they will not work. Turkey is standing tall and vibrant. The People's Alliance is everything for Turkey" he stated.

Speaking about MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli returning to work after his health problems, Erdoğan said, "I just had a phone conversation with him. May God grant health, well-being, and wellness to our friend Devlet Bahçeli. Because there is much more we will do together" he said.
