A ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas has been approved in Gaza, where the eyes of the world have been turned.
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan evaluated the development in a statement shared on his social media account. In his post, Erdoğan stated, "I am deeply pleased that the Hamas-Israel negotiations, which were conducted in Sharm El-Sheikh and to which we as Turkey also contributed, have resulted in a ceasefire in Gaza."
THANKS TO QATAR AND EGYPT
Thanking the countries that supported the process, especially US President Donald Trump, and drawing attention to the contributions of Qatar and Egypt, Erdoğan emphasized that the ceasefire process would be closely monitored by Turkey.
Erdoğan's statement is as follows:
"I am deeply pleased that the Hamas-Israel negotiations, which were conducted in Sharm El-Sheikh and to which we as Turkey also contributed, have resulted in a ceasefire in Gaza.
I would like to extend my special thanks to the brotherly countries of Qatar and Egypt, who provided significant support in reaching the agreement, and especially to US President Mr. Trump, who demonstrated the necessary political will to encourage the Israeli government toward a ceasefire.
As Turkey, we will be the close followers of the full implementation of the agreement and will continue to contribute to the process.
Likewise, we will continue our struggle until a Palestinian state is established, based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, which is independent, sovereign, and possesses geographical integrity.
On this occasion, I greet my Palestinian brothers and sisters with my most heartfelt affection, who have suffered unspeakable pain for 2 years, who have been struggling for life and dignity under inhumane conditions; who have lost their children, mothers, fathers, relatives, and friends, and who have not compromised their honorable stance despite all the tragedies they have experienced.
May the Almighty be the helper and supporter of our Palestinian brothers and sisters; may the Almighty bless the souls of our martyrs and grant them paradise."
Şarm El Şeyh’de yürütülen ve Türkiye olarak bizim de katkı sağladığımız Hamas-İsrail görüşmelerinin Gazze’de ateşkesle sonuçlanmasından büyük memnuniyet duyuyorum.
