Speaking at the 1st Term Candidate Religious Officials Graduation Ceremony of the Presidency of Religious Affairs Academy, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks on 'Sharia' drew attention.
"THERE IS HOSTILITY TOWARD SHARIA"
"There is a hostility toward Sharia staged under different masks. Hostility toward Sharia, which represents the entirety of Islam's rules regarding life, is in essence hostility toward the religion itself," said Erdoğan, adding, "Whether to believe or not, whether to live by it or not, is of course a matter of choice. But speaking ill of the religion's commandments is a different matter."
While Erdoğan's 'Sharia' remarks dominated the agenda, Metropoll Research owner Özer Sencar shared a survey conducted in October 2023 on his social media account.
In the survey, participants were asked the question, "Which of the following types of regimes would you like to live in?"
The results were as follows;
Republic: 41.1
Democratic Republic: 26.7
Islamic Republic: 19.2
Monarchy: 3.0
No opinion/No answer: 10.0
The breakdown of the response by political party is as follows;
