Erdoğan's statement on the fire tragedy: 'We do not find it appropriate to politicize this'

President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan made assessments regarding the agenda at his party's 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress in Malatya. 

Speaking about the fire tragedy that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, Erdoğan said, "Those who have caused this great suffering to our nation due to errors, negligence, irregularities, and greed will certainly be held accountable before the judiciary." 

Stating that the investigation is continuing meticulously, Erdoğan said the following: 

"Within the scope of the investigation, 14 people, including the business owner, hotel employees, and 3 municipal personnel, have been detained. Whatever is necessary will be done from now on. We do not find it appropriate to politicize such a distressing event that has shaken us all and deeply wounded us all. Engaging in a war of words with anyone while the pain of our citizens who have lost their relatives, children, and loved ones is still fresh would, first and foremost, be disrespectful to the grieving families. Accordingly, we push aside any discussion that would cast a shadow over the events."

Targeting the CHP in his remarks, Erdoğan said: 

"We regretfully observe that some actors of the main opposition have been recklessly attacking left and right for 3 days instead of showing respect for the nation's pain. May the Almighty not let our nation experience such pain again."
