Sad news has arrived regarding former national player Ersen Martin, who wore the jerseys of teams such as Trabzonspor and Beşiktaş in our country.

44-year-old Ersen Martin, who had been suffering from an illness for a long time, has passed away.

The former national player, who was fighting for his life following an aortic dissection, has lost his battle.

The 44-year-old former footballer passed away at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.

WHO IS ERSEN MARTIN?

Born on May 23, 1979, in Germany, Ersen Martin began his football career in the Nürnberg youth academy. After playing for the U19 team, Ersen was promoted to the senior squad. Martin transferred to Beşiktaş in the summer of 1999 and spent the 2000/2001 season on loan at Siirt Jetpa.

Transferring to Göztepe in the 2001/2002 season, Ersen Martin moved to Denizlispor in the summer of 2002. Playing there for 3 seasons, Ersen Martin spent the 2005-2006 season at Ankaraspor.

Signing with Trabzonspor in the summer of 2006, the national footballer transferred to Recreativo Huelva in the 2007/2008 season for a transfer fee of 1.1 million Euros. Spending two seasons in Spain, Ersen Martin returned to our country wearing the Sivasspor jersey.

Later playing for Manisaspor, Kasımpaşa, and Gençlerbirliği, Ersen ended his career in 2013 while playing for Eyüpspor.

Throughout his club career, Ersen Martin appeared in 371 official matches, scoring 101 goals and providing 27 assists.

Having been called up to the national team for the first time in 2004, Ersen wore the national jersey in 3 matches but did not score any goals.
