Esenyurt Veterans Association President removed from office after calling Ahmet Özer 'my brother'
The 'Democracy Watch' protests in Esenyurt continue following the removal of CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, the appointment of a trustee in his place, and his subsequent arrest. Speeches in support of Ahmet Özer are being delivered at the Democracy Watch. It has been learned that İsmail Kalaycıoğlu, the President of the Esenyurt Veterans Association, who took the stage at the Democracy Watch to protest Ahmet Özer's arrest, has been removed from his position.

The decision to remove Kalaycıoğlu from his post came after the speech he delivered at the Democracy Watch on January 10. The district governor notified Kalaycıoğlu of the decision. The association's headquarters also recorded the letter regarding Kalaycıoğlu's removal in the association's ledger.
In his speech at the Democracy Watch, Kalaycıoğlu had used the following expressions:
"I have only one life on this earth. I am a heroic veteran, a war veteran. Professor Ahmet is a sociologist and a literary scholar. The first day I met him, I said, 'An honorable man has come to Esenyurt,' an honorable professor. I sat down with Professor Ahmet like a father and son, we shared our troubles, we talked.
'PROFESSOR AHMET SAID, "I HAVE A DEBT TO THIS COUNTRY"'
Professor Ahmet said that this country educated me, I became a professor, I have a debt to this country, I have to pay that debt, and I have to pay that debt by serving Esenyurt, by serving you. I will tell you who Professor Ahmet is and who he has worked with in this country.

He worked with President and Prime Minister Süleyman Demirel.
He worked with the head of this state, the head of this government, the head of the People's Alliance, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
He worked for exactly 2 years with the late Recep Yazıcıoğlu.
