Esila Ayık, a chronic heart and kidney patient who was arrested in Kadıköy due to a sign she was carrying, fell ill in prison and was taken to the hospital, but was sent back to prison following her treatment.

Esila Ayık, a chronic heart and kidney patient who was arrested on April 8 at the Kadıköy Solidarity Stage for carrying a sign reading "Dictator Erdoğan," fell ill in prison today. Esila Ayık, who was taken to the emergency room during the day, has been sent back to prison.

Lawyer Ümit Özkan made the following statement:

"Today, Esila Ayık fell ill; her blood pressure rose, she experienced chest pain, vomited, suffered a loss of consciousness, and was taken to the emergency room in a wheelchair. She was given an IV. An EKG and an ECHO were performed. Medication was prescribed, and she was sent back to prison. Our appeals, however, have still not been reviewed."

Ayık's friends stated that after the earthquake, Esila was worried about her relatives but could not receive any news from them.
