The Meat and Milk Board (ESK) has issued a statement regarding the footage of imported animals circulating on social media.
ESK stated that the unloading and delivery of imported animals are carried out in accordance with contract provisions under the supervision of established commissions, agency officials, and the animal owners.
In a written statement from ESK, it was claimed that some social media accounts shared footage of animals affected by long-distance sea transport, presenting isolated instances of dirty animals as if they were widespread occurrences.
'IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT PROVISIONS...'
The statement noted that feeder cattle have been delivered to 2,960 out of 4,300 farmers, stating, "The unloading and delivery of the animals are carried out in accordance with contract provisions under the supervision of our agency's officials and the animal owners, with the assistance of established commissions."
Emphasizing that producers receive their feeder cattle by signing an "Imported Feeder Cattle Delivery and Receipt Report," confirming that they have received them in full, healthy, and in accordance with contract provisions, the statement included the following:
'PROVOCATIVE NEWS SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN CREDENCE'
"Furthermore, animal owners have the right to object regarding imported calves, and any unusual excessive soiling is calculated by the commission and is not reflected to the producers. The import process has not yet been completed, and all objections are meticulously evaluated by our agency until the end of the nationalization process, with damages originating from the source country being compensated. Provocative news aimed at targeting ESK's activities and reducing its regulatory power should not be given credence."
