Coffee chain Espressolab, which was targeted following a boycott call made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel on March 24, has closed its account on the social media platform X. As part of the protests that began following the arrest of 48 people, including CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, as well as mayors and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) bureaucrats, Özel had called for a boycott of certain companies.

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL: 'WE WILL NOT STOP BY ESPRESSOLAB ON CAMPUS'

In his speech at the rally held in Saraçhane, CHP leader Özel included Espressolab in his boycott call, stating the following:

"Drink whatever you want, but do not drink it from Espressolab! They supposedly think they will take over the campuses... We will not stop by Espressolab on campus, we will not drink their coffee."

Following this call, while segments close to the CHP protested the coffee chain, AKP organizations began making visits to show support for the firm.

SUPPORT VISIT FROM MESUT ÖZİL

While AKP figures visited Espressolab and shared posts on social media in response to the boycott process, most recently, AKP Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) member and former German national football player Mesut Özil also visited Espressolab. Özil's visit resonated widely on social media.
