Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu's post on his X social media account regarding the appointment of stray dogs brought smiles to many faces.

In his post, Erdal Beşikçioğlu stated, "Today, we have started a brand new era for our dear friends in Etimesgut. With the amendment made to the animal protection law, we could never remain indifferent to stray animals falling into difficult situations. For this reason, we have carried out the appointment of 5 of our dear friends who have completed their training to various duties in our municipality."

In the statement, Beşikçioğlu noted that they first provide obedience training to the dogs and that after they complete their basic training, they provide the necessary opportunities for citizens to adopt them.

'THEY WILL BE GUARD DOGS'

Beşikçioğlu stated that they will also utilize some dogs as guard dogs in areas such as park and garden warehouses and machinery depots, explaining that the municipal shelter has the capacity to house 300 animals and currently holds 80-83 dogs.

Reporting that the number is increasing, Erdal Beşikçioğlu shared the information, "But the project we have implemented is also progressing in a healthy way. There is an area here where they can all roam freely. Basic obedience training and search and rescue training are provided here. The system is working for now, and we made assignments to our daycare centers in the morning hours."
