EU Commission President von der Leyen to visit Erdoğan

European Commission (EU) President Ursula von der Leyen announced in a statement on her social media account that she will visit Turkey next week for an important meeting to address the situation in Syria. Von der Leyen stated that she would meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as part of the visit.

'SYRIA'S TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY MUST BE PROTECTED'

In her post, von der Leyen stated, "I had an important exchange of views with President Erdoğan on the situation in Syria," and drew attention to the need to protect Syria's territorial integrity and minority rights.

The EU Commission President emphasized that the developments in Syria concern not only the countries in the region but also the international community. Von der Leyen said, "Next week in Turkey, we will discuss in detail what these developments mean for the region and beyond."

EU-TURKEY COOPERATION COMES TO THE FORE

The visit is expected to be of critical importance in terms of strengthening cooperation between the EU and Turkey regarding the Syrian issue. It is anticipated that migration policies and proposed solutions to the humanitarian crises in the region will also be on the agenda during the meeting.
