New footage has emerged regarding the armed attack that took place on January 15 in the Kağıthane district of Istanbul, in which Burak Tunçel lost his life. The security camera recordings show that the attackers monitored Tunçel for minutes and carried out the attack the moment he got into his vehicle.
FOLLOWED IN FRONT OF A MARKET
The camera footage shows the moments when Burak Tunçel walked past a market toward his parked car. It was determined that the attackers, who were waiting in another vehicle near the white car, were waiting for Tunçel to get into his vehicle.
THEY ATTACKED THE MOMENT HE GOT INTO THE VEHICLE
The moment Tunçel sat in his car, the attackers who got out of a black vehicle began firing with automatic weapons. In the footage, it is clearly seen that the attackers showered the vehicle with bullets and that people in the vicinity fled in a panic.
NEARLY 40 BULLETS STRUCK
The incident took place on Fazilet Street in Hamidiye Neighborhood. Two unidentified individuals opened fire on the parked car with automatic weapons. It was stated that approximately 40 bullets struck Burak Tunçel, who was in the vehicle, and that Tunçel, who was seriously injured, lost his life despite all interventions.
THREE PEOPLE DETAINED
In the work initiated by police teams following the incident, three suspects determined to be linked to the individuals who carried out the attack were captured and detained in an operation.
A GPS DEVICE WAS ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE
Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that the attackers had placed a GPS (signal tracking) device under Tunçel's vehicle. It was established that the suspects arrived at the scene around 03:00, waited for approximately 9 hours, and took action the moment Tunçel got into the vehicle.
ATTACK VEHICLE BURNED
It was revealed that the attackers, who fled the scene by getting into the vehicle they arrived in after the attack, set the vehicle they used for their escape on fire in Kemerburgaz.
HAD A RECORD OF 12 CRIMES
It was learned that Burak Tunçel, who had been released from prison 10 days before the murder, had a record of 12 separate crimes according to police records.
