The expected cold weather has arrived, Turkey will turn white
The Meteorological Service has announced that severe cold will affect all of Turkey. Hourly warnings have been issued for sleet, storms, and significant drops in temperature.

The arrival of severe cold has come earlier than expected. The cold air mass coming from the Arctic region is bringing snowfall and storms with it. The General Directorate of Meteorology had issued warnings for cold weather and snowfall that will be effective across a large part of Turkey. According to prominent forecasts, the cold will rapidly take effect starting from Sunday night.
According to the forecasts of the General Directorate of Meteorology, most of Turkey will be partly to very cloudy. Specifically, the eastern Marmara, inner Aegean (except Denizli), Eastern Mediterranean (except Mersin), Central Anatolia, the Black Sea, and the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions will receive precipitation. The precipitation will generally be in the form of rain and showers, but starting from the evening hours, sleet and snow will be seen in the inner Aegean, the inland parts of the Black Sea, Central Anatolia, and Eastern Anatolia.
Local heavy precipitation is expected in the surroundings of Zonguldak, Bartın, and Düzce starting from the night hours. It is stated that this precipitation could locally lead to storms and disruptions in transportation. In regions where northwesterly winds and strong storms are expected, it is likely that adverse weather conditions will occur alongside snowfall.
MAJOR DROP IN TEMPERATURES
Air temperatures, which have been hovering above seasonal norms, will decrease noticeably (by 4 to 10 degrees) across the country. While the northern, inner, and eastern regions will be particularly affected by this cold, temperatures will drop significantly.
STORMS AND SNOW POSE A MAJOR RISK
The wind direction will shift to the north and east, while it is expected to blow from the southwest at light to moderate strength in the southeastern regions. However, starting from Saturday, a northwesterly wind will be effective, bringing strong storms to the western regions and the north of Marmara. These storms are expected to combine with precipitation, particularly in the western regions, to increase snowfall.
