With the appointment of a trustee to the CHP İstanbul Provincial Presidency, all eyes are now turned to the convention lawsuit on September 15.
Throughout the summer, there was a prevailing expectation in the CHP that no negative ruling would emerge regarding the convention lawsuit. However, the removal of the CHP İstanbul Provincial Administration from office has brought potential new scenarios to the agenda.
According to the report by Cumhuriyet, the possibility of the court appointing a trustee or the former administration returning to duty is now being discussed more frequently in CHP circles. Some CHP officials expressed their initial comments on Gürsel Tekin's entry into the provincial building under police escort with the words, "This is a rehearsal of what they want to do to the headquarters."
DELEGATES' EXTRAORDINARY CONVENTION MOVE
Against potential developments, CHP delegates are trying to take precautions by pushing the party toward an extraordinary convention. However, in Ankara circles, the claim has emerged that if the court reinstates the former administration (Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu), this team would not carry out the convention planned for September 21.
"THE ELECTION WILL BE HELD NO MATTER WHAT"
CHP officials, who are closely examining the legal possibilities, emphasize that there is no possibility that the convention decision taken by the delegates will not be implemented.
The officials assessed the situation, stating, "The election must be held on the 21st, no matter what. Anyone who wants to lead the party should become a candidate in the elections. No one can run away from the election."
"EVEN IF A TRUSTEE COMES, THEY MUST TAKE THE PARTY TO AN ELECTION"
It is pointed out that the scenarios being discussed within the CHP contain a significant contradiction. The officials shared the following view:
"In fact, everything being discussed—whether it is a trustee, absolute nullity, or a call committee—is required to take the party to an election. In other words, if an unlawful decision comes out of the court, the person who comes in must take the party to an election.
But we keep talking as if the person who comes in will not take the party to an election. This in itself is a problematic issue. We have an extraordinary convention ahead of us, as well as our 39th Ordinary Convention. Anyone who wants to take on a role in the party should be a candidate there."
