Extreme heat coming to Turkey this weekend: Thermometers to hit 40 degrees
A heatwave will intensify across the country over the weekend and at the beginning of the new week. Temperatures are expected to exceed 40 degrees in some regions.

According to meteorological forecasts, a significant rise in temperatures will be felt across Turkey in the coming days. Temperatures are expected to rise well above seasonal norms, particularly in the Aegean, western Mediterranean, and Southeastern Anatolia regions.
With the wind losing its effect in the Aegean region, temperatures are expected to hover around 36-37 degrees in İzmir and Muğla, while reaching up to 42 degrees in Aydın. Due to this rise, warnings are being issued against staying under the sun for long periods.
In Istanbul, the temperature, which was measured at 32 degrees on the last workday of the week, will be in the 32-33 degree range over the weekend as the clouds clear. The city is expected to start the new week with temperatures around 33 degrees as well.
It is stated that temperatures in the capital, Ankara, will also rise rapidly both over the weekend and in the coming week, approaching stifling levels in some places.
In Southeastern Anatolia, thermometers will be in the 36-38 degree band over the weekend. By Monday, air temperatures are expected to exceed 40 degrees in Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, and Adıyaman.
Experts emphasize the need to protect oneself from sunlight, especially during midday hours, to consume plenty of fluids, and to take necessary precautions for those working outdoors.
