Reactions continue to rise from all corners of the country following the Super Cup crisis. Most recently, the Beşiktaş Municipality hung banners reading 'Desert Tiger, Hero of Medina, Fahreddin Pasha' on the street where the Saudi Arabian Consulate General is located.

The Super Cup final, which was planned to be played between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, was canceled after Saudi authorities did not permit an Atatürk banner.
As the two teams returned to the country, citizens welcomed their teams with demonstrations of affection.

Ömer Fahreddin Türkkan is known for the Defense of Medina, which he led under difficult conditions for two years and seven months during the Sharif Hussein Revolt, which broke out especially during World War I. He is referred to by the nicknames "Defender of Medina", "Turkish Tiger", "Desert Tiger", and "Hero of Medina".
