Fahrettin Altun presents credentials to the Pope
Prof. Dr. Altun, who was appointed as Ambassador to the Vatican by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was received this morning at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican by Pope Leo XIV, the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church and Head of State of the Vatican.

The reception, during which Altun presented his credentials to the Pope, took place in a sincere and warm atmosphere.
Following the receipt of the credentials, Pope Leo XIV invited Ambassador Altun to the hall where his personal library is located to exchange views.
During the private meeting, which lasted approximately 20 minutes, Turkey-Vatican relations as well as recent developments regarding the Middle East were discussed.
Ambassador Altun shared a post on his social media account regarding the meeting.
Ambassador Altun's wife Fatmanur Altun, their children, Embassy Counselor Elif Okutucu, and embassy officials were also present at the credential presentation ceremony.
By presenting our credentials to Pope Leo XIV, the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church and Head of State of the Vatican, we have begun our duty as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Vatican.
