A fare dispute between an illegal taxi driver who picked up two female passengers in Beyoğlu and one of the passengers escalated into allegations of harassment and assault.

The incident occurred on Sunday, September 29, at approximately 02:55 AM at the entrance of a residential complex in the Tahtakale neighborhood. According to the information obtained, Furkan N., who was operating as an illegal taxi driver with his vehicle bearing the license plate 34 KOP 897, picked up two female passengers in Beyoğlu. Furkan N. first took his passengers to an address in Şişli and then to a residential complex in the Tahtakale neighborhood of Avcılar.
FARE DISPUTE TURNS INTO HARASSMENT ALLEGATION
At the entrance of the complex, one of the passengers got out after paying the 800 lira fare. However, the other passenger in the vehicle, Deniz K., started an argument, claiming that the driver had charged too much. As the argument escalated, the female passenger, who claimed that the driver had harassed and assaulted her, damaged the electronic devices in the vehicle. The illegal taxi driver, Furkan N., who recorded these moments with his mobile phone camera, and Deniz K., who claimed to have been harassed, asked the complex's security guards to call the police. While the argument continued, Deniz K.'s friend, who had gotten out of the vehicle, returned and tried to calm the woman down.
ILLEGAL TAXI DRIVER FINED 32 THOUSAND LIRA
Upon the woman stating that she would file a complaint against the illegal taxi driver, who denied the accusations, the complex's private security guards called the police. Upon notification, police teams arrived at the scene and took the parties, who were filing complaints against each other, to the police station.
