Fatih Altaylı addresses politicians and pollsters: 'It feels like BC'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı stated that he paid 650 liras for 1 kilo of kol böreği (pastry), 2 simits, and 3 ayran at a pudding shop he visited in Istanbul, adding, "I said 'What is this?' without meaning to. I asked, 'How much is the pastry?' It was 450 TL per kilo. The young girl at the register responded to my reaction by saying, 'You are right, Fatih Bey.' I said, 'The last time I bought it, it was around 50 TL.' She said, 'That is correct. That was just before the pandemic.' It feels like the pre-pandemic era was BC," he remarked.

Stating that he chatted with the employees and that they all complained about the prices and the cost of living, Altaylı said, "They were all angry, hopeless, and unhappy. Whoever we talk to, whoever we exchange a few words with, in the market, in the restaurant, it is the same conversation everywhere. The public has no other agenda. Politicians should be aware of this. And so should the pollsters!"
